A curated archival photography collection documenting the UAE’s educational heritage and leadership journey within a symbolic Majlis setting.
Tasmeem Tashkeel was commissioned by the Ministry of Education to curate and install a distinguished collection of archival black-and-white photography within the main Majlis area of the Ministry’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi.
The selection features historic photographs of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan during his visits to schools across the United Arab Emirates, alongside rare images of His Highness Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan during his student years. Together, these photographs tell a compelling intergenerational story — from a founding leader championing education to a future president shaped within the nation’s early classrooms.
Presented in black and white, the photography emphasizes authenticity, heritage, and timeless vision. The images capture meaningful moments within the UAE’s formative educational landscape, reflecting a national philosophy that places learning at the heart of progress and development.
Installed within the Majlis — a space symbolic of leadership and dialogue — the curated photographic display creates an atmosphere of reflection and inspiration. The project visually reinforces the United Arab Emirates’ enduring mission to empower future generations through education, aligning the Ministry’s present-day initiatives with the foundational values that continue to guide the nation forward.
