Tasmeem Tashkeel was commissioned to enrich the guest experience at Atlantis The Royal by creating a bespoke cultural corner in the lobby, showcasing Emirati heritage through art, design, and curated artifacts.
Drawing inspiration from the hotel’s iconic stacked architectural form, Tasmeem Tashkeel designed a sculptural console crafted from layered Plypalm blocks. Its rhythm of texture and depth mirrors the building’s bold geometry, while intricate blue-dyed palm leaf marquetry weaves the story of the UAE’s maritime heritage and pearl diving traditions across the surface. The console bridges memory and modernity, tradition and innovation, embodying the spirit of the Emirates within a contemporary luxury context.
Curated artifacts are displayed within the shelving unit, each representing foundational pillars of the UAE’s historyhonor, strength, resilience, and respect for tradition. Together, the installation transforms the hotel lobby into a culturally immersive space, connecting guests with the UAE’s heritage and celebrating the nation’s journey from its roots to global prominence.
