An interactive calligraphic sculpture by Ibraheem Zaki, transforming a public playground into a creative space for cultural play.
Tasmeem Tashkeel, in partnership with Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, commissioned a unique public art project at Mushrif Park in Dubai, designed to combine creativity, play, and cultural expression.
The installation was created by Emirati calligrapher Ibraheem Zaki, who used Arabic calligraphy to write the word “Ilaab”, meaning “Play”. The design transforms the playground into an interactive artistic environment, where children can physically engage with the calligraphic forms while enjoying the space.
This project celebrates the fusion of art and public life, turning everyday play into a culturally immersive experience. It encourages creativity, exploration, and learning, reflecting the UAE’s commitment to integrating contemporary Emirati art into community spaces.
Tasmeem Tashkeel provided art and design consultancy, ensuring the artwork was thoughtfully executed, safely integrated into the playground, and manufactured locally within the UAE, creating a playful and lasting landmark for families and visitors alike.
