Kashi is the trail of a traveling craftsman. It is an effort to merge two traditional crafts, juxtaposing Emirati and South Asian elements to create a design piece that celebrates and reinterprets cultural boundaries. This unique exploration traces the layers of historical links, trade ties, and similar natural resources, such as clay—the oldest building material, both durable and sustainable—processed by mixing soils from Fujairah and Multan.

This duality is reflected throughout the design process, taking inspiration from Emirati craft techniques. The form for the miniature clay building blocks is derived from the traditional Sadu weaving pattern. Both stackable and modular, the dynamic form of the clay block can evolve into endless configurations. Each piece is handcrafted on the pottery wheel, a technique that reflects the presence of the maker as much as the material. Crafts exist through people. Kashi is emblematic of a coming together of crafts, makers, and cultures, stacked tall as a totem of amalgamation.

Each wooden stool is developed with a different geometric form and nestles various sizes of clay blocks. The collection also includes a handcrafted Sadu cushion.
